The Farmers

In 2015 we, Ervin and Joella Bontrager, moved from a small Amish community in Northern Indiana to build a better life here in the Blue Ridge mountains.

We love God and their country and were raised in a community where hard work ethics, honesty, integrity and sustainability were taught since we were knee-high.

Eden Farmstead was established to provide a higher quality food for our neighbors and to teach others about the health and environmental benefits to eating like our ancestors did. Our passion is to build a better world for the next generations and to create a place of rest on the farm where individuals can heal and restore their health, both physically and mentally.

The Farm

Eden Farmstead was built with a dream of becoming self-sustainable. We believe in using all of their resources to create a harmony of life on the farm.

The Angus cattle are the main event on the farm. Good Angus meat starts with a foundation of good soil health and regeneration. When establishing the farm, all our efforts were poured into reestablishing the soil mineral balance of the pastures. Chemical-free fertilizers and minerals were added to the soil to produce the high quality grass that our herd needs to thrive.

Along side our cows we have pigs, ducks, geese, chickens and bees that all contribute to the ecosystem of Eden Farmstead. The bees have been a great addition to the farm with the increase in pollination and yield of the garden and field crops. And just as a bonus, these hard little workers have given delicious, pure honey to harvest.

If you would like some good tasting beef give us a call to schedule yours. We also have a small farm stand here on the farm where you can buy yourself a quart of honey.

Raw Honey

Our bees provide us with a bounty of fresh honey every year and so we built a farm-stand to share some with our community.
